Susannah Heschel Receives Standing Ovation in Congress

When Professor Susannah Heschel was at a conference in Berlin last month, she received a phone call from Israeli President Isaac Herzog inviting her to attend his July 19 address to the U.S. Congress.

Heschel accepted his invitation, and on Wednesday she received a standing ovation in the House chamber after Herzog praised her father, the late Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, for his advocacy for civil rights and interfaith dialogue. "I am so pleased to have his daughter, Professor Susannah Heschel of Dartmouth, joining us here today," Herzog said.
