The Department of Religion at Dartmouth College invites applications for a one-year Lecturer position in Asian Religions during the 2019-20 academic year (September 2019-June 2020). We seek applications from candidates who specialize in either Japanese or Southeast Asian religions, whose academic specialization lies in religion or in an academic discipline relating to the study of religion. The successful candidate will be grounded in both theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of religion, as well as the relevant primary languages.
Dartmouth operates on the quarter system, with each quarter lasting roughly ten weeks. Requirements for this position include teaching introductory- and intermediate-level courses during the 2019-2020 academic year, with no more than two courses in any one quarter (0-2 per quarter over 3 quarters; up to 5 courses). Salary is competitive; position is benefits-eligible if courses are spread over three quarters, with benefits prorated according to teaching load. Dartmouth College is an outstanding research institution of 4400 undergraduates, half of whom are women and approximately 40% of whom are members of minority groups.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a PhD or ABD status, along with a record of outstanding scholarship and effective teaching.
