The Rajput princess Meera is famous across South Asia for a career combining multiple talents. She was a poet, a musician, a charismatic saint, and a protofeminist rebel - in short, the sixteenth-century version of a rock str. This film from the 1970s gives the story of this revered figure the full Bollywood treatment. Dir. Gulzar, 1979.
