Tomoko Masuzawa to give Annual Hardigg Public Lecture

Tomoko Masuzawa is Professor of History and Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Michigan. Her fields of special interest are modern European intellectual history (19th century), discourss on religion, history of human sciences, and psychoanalysis. She is the author of The Invention of World Religions (University of Chicago Press, 2005).

The Hardigg Family Fund supports the annual visit to Dartmouth College of a scholar designated as the Hardigg Fellow to REL 85, which is the culminating experience of the Religion major. "REL 85 Senior Coloquium" is a special winter term course, required of all senior Religion majors, convened by Religion faculty member(s) who guide the selection of topics and grade the essays. The course features as a guest speaker the Hardigg Fellow, an author whose book is being read as part of the course. The Hardigg Fellow meets with students in class to discuss his or her work and also engages with students more informally in conversations outside of class. The Fellow also presents a public lecture in conjunction with their isit to campus.
