In the late 19th century, Jews from neighboring villages in rural Lithuania settled in Burlington, Vermont, a bustling port amid countryside that reminded them of home. Archival images and interviews with descendants of the original settlers capture the history of a community that enriches the culture of Vermont to this day.

Made possible with funding from the Dartmouth College Religion Department, Jim Wyant, Schwartz Family Foundation, Inc, Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal, and Carolyn and Leonard Miller Center For Holocaust Studies.

Panelists:

  • Randall Balmer, Chair, Department of Religion, Dartmouth College
  • Rabbi Edward Boraz, Hillel Foundation, Dartmouth College
  • Dorothy Dickie, Senior Producer, Vermont Public Television
